Production Phase
Making and editing the preliminary task was a way in getting use to editing a music video in a easy way than chopping it up and trying to fit it together. To get the right lip sync, i made sure the music was played out loud and made sure that the person in the music video sings the song out loud rather than mime. I also made sure they sung more than twice, to make the person get the feel for the music. As they gain confidence in singing the song, they would get the lip sync accurate. I used a hd camera to make my music video unlike when making my thriller which i only used a standard camcorder.
Post Production
There were various tools on final cut in which i used to make this music video. One of the main tools i used was the mountain tool. This tool allowed me to toggle the clip overlays. So when i had one person singing something and i had to switch it to someone else singing instead of having to chop up the clip and trying to line it up, i all i have to do is select the pen tool and add two dotts then try to move it accordingly.
I used markers by pressing the 'M' key on the keyboard and it allowed me to place a maker. I used the marker first for when Elton John sings and then i placed a marker for where Michael lip syncs instead of having to chop up my clips and trying to move it to the right place, after setting the marker all I have to do is move the clip and if Michael has been singing properly it would be synced up correctly and perfectly.
