Contingency Plan

Contingency Plan
Name: Michael Matute, Simon Akinwunmi, Michael Mensah-Afram, Sofiyat Kasim

Production:

Potential problems and how to overcome these problems:

There are a few problems we could face during the filming process of our music video, and explaining how we can overcome these issues. here are some of the problems we cold face:

  • The room- The room we are planing on using to film is a also used for lessons, so we will be given set times to use this room as it may be needed for other things, so we need to make sure we film in time as the room is used on a schedule process.
  • We need to film our music video to a high standard however as soon as possible because if one of our team members become ill we may have to begin filming again using a new character for the position they previously had.
  • If we are filming outside scenes we need to make sure that we can try and get the same scenario each time, so if we film one day and it is sunny, we nee to make sure we film again on a day were it is sunny rather than raining as it may not look like the music video was filmed in the same day.

Proposal as to how to expand/ broaden audience/ increase sales

Looking at some of the most successful music videos, they all seem to be on all the available music videos players. The reason for this is because they reach out to a lot of places and it is easily available. Youtube has been one of the most successful place for a music video to be uploaded. At a time music videos were only available on music T.V. channels like, MTV. Nowadays, smart phones are present with youtube apps. This makes it more available to everyone as they are all online and can access it easily. To appeal to a variety of audiences you have to make t the music video available to every place that allows music videos to be seen.

Date: 28th November 12
Major Issues:

Filming at:

We would be filming at Robert clack music studio as our stage for the band
Another place we would be filming at is at Michael mature house for the scene with the argument with the guy and his female.  A further location would be a café. This will be the scene when the guy sees his girl friend with another male.

Solutions:

There are particular things in which my group and I should take when going out to film. If we were going to film at the side of the road, a solution would be that we should not film on the road. Before using the café and filming, we would need to have permission.  We also need to make sure that the area is safe if it wasn’t we would make sure that we have contact to parents and on site services.

Analysis of Audience research - Survey monkey Analysis

From this analysis of the survey monkey research data, i can see that young people watch music videos mostly on youtube.

The majority of people were make that watch music videos. Some of the music videos that are peoples favourites were indie. There are a range of things that people like in music videos.

Analysis of student digipak/ Magazine advert/ Video Combination

Analysing student work would help me in my decisions to make my own digipak. This digipak is a well constructed digipak. There is a theme to this, it seems to be an autumn feel to this album and it seems to be country. The orange leaves are orange to suggest the fall. There are wood and trees which makes this autumn feel. If you were to fold up the digipak the artist is on the inside which is what most digipaks do so that it seems like you are opening up the cd into the artist. There is a track listing on the back of the digipak for more songs on the cd. There is also a barcode located on this page.

This Magazine advert is a well constructed piece of work. The magazine advert have ratings and quotes from the guardian. This is useful as it tells the people how goods the album actually is. At the bottom of the magazine advert we see the release date and either side of it we see the store where the audience could buy it. The main focus of this magazine advert is the red which is present on the lips. This could be done for two reasons one of them being the fact that it is to do with lip therapy which links to the therapy of the new album. This can also link to Love which could be the theme of this album.

What resources you will need (Include actors, Props, setting)

What makes a good music video is the Mise-en-scene. The props and the outfits are the things that makes the music video what it is. For our music video i thought hard about the props we would need. I listened to the music and i identified some instrumentals that would make the music videos convincing. The instruments used are guitars and drums. Analysing more and more indie music videos, their basic structure and props are the instruments; Which is why i would be using guitars and drums as my props. I would also be using a microphone. For typical indie videos they are normally in skinny jeans and or in suits normally slim fitted.

Song Lyrics

Verse 1;
Every time that you're in reach
i slip up, and you slip away from me
theres a lesson here to teach
seem like you've always got something to say

Chorus;
with all i've done, you lied to me
count me from reality
won't you just let go cause i cant breathe
im gonna soon make you a saint,
'cause in my eyes its just too late
won't you just let go cause i cant breathe

Verse 2;
seems like we've been living lies
morning dreams just come and pass me by
wipe the mud from out my eyes
were still living in a compromise
so just stop complaining
i dont need to say
everything still changing coz you knew that anyway
you can do much better, and i can't do much worse
this lie isn't bad, this is my first

Chosen Artist Profile

Silent sundays

About
The artist chosen is made up of Dave O'Leary - Vocals/Rhythm Guitar
Tom Harris - Lead Guitar/ Backing Vocals
Chris Tracey - Bass Guitar
Lee Dainty - Drums & Percussion

The band formed in mid 2006 after trying many different line-ups until we found a comfortable line-up and an always positive atmosphere.
We are a 4-Piece band, and have a wide variety in the styles of music that we play. We play a mixture of covers and originals which range between punk, rock and indie. With a Lead guitarist and Drummer into some of the more heavier genres, our music includes fast solos, fast rhythms, Strong and rhythmic drumming and some awesome fills. Also on the lighter side, the band has a bassist and rhythm guitarist into lighter, more indie style music, giving songs a nice melodic feeling with some chords new to the guitaring world, fast chord changes, funky bass riffs and clever chord structures. With Dave as our lead vocalist and Tray and Tom as back-up vocalists, our vocal range is almost endless, so we like to include clever and melodic vocal parts, with some strong vocal parts for all 3 of the vocalists. (http://www.unsigned.com/silentsundays)

Asking for Permission

In order to get the music for the my music video, i had to ask

We are A-Level students at Robert Clack School in East London, and we would like to request permission to use you music. The track we wish to use is silent serenade. We would very much appreciate if you would give us the permission to do so as it is for our media project to create a music video from an artist and genre of your choice.
Thank you.

Audience Research - Vox Pops [Like all good media...]

Like all good media our Vox Pops will be staged in a classroom.
The questions that would be asked are:

  • Do you watch music Videos?
  • What is your favourite music video?
  • What do you like about music videos?
  • what makes a great music video?
  • whee do you watch music videos?
The video is shown below:

Audience Research - Vox Pops

What are vox pops?

  • Vox populi is latin for voice of the people.
  • It usually is the interviewees are shown in public places, and are supposed to be giving spontaneous opinions in a chance encounter.
  • Vox pops are often used on news programmes to show 'balance'
  • 'Opinions are divided on the streets...'
  • Each person is asked the same question, the aim is to get a variety of answers and opinions on any given subject.
  • Journalists are usually instructed to approach a wide range of people to get varied answers from different points of view.
Example of vox pop:

As we can see, there is no interviewer he is behind the camera or to the side of the camera. We always see the interviewee looking in one direction never at the camera with the background behind them.

Audience Research - SurveyMonkey

In order to get my music video out there, i would have to do some audience research. http://www.surveymonkey.com/ is a good site for this because you are able to to find out the age range of people that watch music videos and where they watch it. This could help for when you want to get the most views out of people.

The Media Institution

The music institution is made up of different music record labels. record label is a brand and a trademark associated with the marketing of music recordings and music videos. Often, a record label is also a company that manages such brands and trademarks; coordinates the productionmanufacture, distribution, marketing, promotion, and enforcement of copyright for sound recordings and music videos; conducts talent scouting and development of new artists ("artists and repertoire" or "A&R"); and maintains contracts with recording artists and their managers. The term "record label" derives from the circular label in the center of a vinyl record which prominently displays the manufacturer's name, along with other information. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Record_label)

There are major record labels within them small independent labels some of the famous record are:
  • Sony Music

  • EMI

  • EMI changed into Universal Music group

  • Warner Music Group

These record labels are as of 2012 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Record_label)
